HISTORY OF KABA AND SLIT

Kaba and Slit is a local dress popularly known among Ghanaian women, although most African women do wear them.It can be described as a long skirt with a matching top to fit.
Kaba  and Slit came into existence long before Ghana gained independence,in 1957.It was recognised as a popular outfit for married women and was very common in those days.
During those days, most Ghanaian cultures like the Akan's, which include the Akyem's,the Fantes,Asantes, Sefwis, and the Bono's,recognised the importance of the kaba and slit, and as a result  used it as their traditional wear for funerals, naming ceremonies, traditional marriages and other important occassions.
